KRINGLA
(Vernie’s recipe)
- I stick of margarine and a little more Crisco (about like a walnut)
- I c. suoar
- 1/2 t. salt
- 2 eggs
- I t. baking powder
- I t. soda
- 3 1/4 cups flour
- I cup buttermilk
- I t. vanilla
- 3 t. nutmeg
Sift the dry ingredients together and set aside. Cream sugar and margarine and add eggs and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients alternating with the buttermilk. Dough will be very sticky. Drop a large teaspoon full of dough into a dish with flour until it coats all side. Roll between hands until it is long enough to make a figure 8. (This can also be rolled out if you refrigerate it over night but this is much more inconvenient.)
Bake at 3500 for a maximum of 10 minutes. Put on a higher shelf for the last 2 or 3 minutes.
